The rules of the domestic contest
 

The followings are the rules of the 2004 domestic contest, which will be sent to the contestants via e-mail before the contest.

  • Programming language
    The programming languages of the 2004 domestic contest are Java and C/C++.

  • No electronic preparation
    Any electronic materials (e.g., sample programs, algorithm descriptions, etc.) should not be installed ahead into the contestant's computer, excepting manuals installed with your development environment such as man, info and Java API document; any manual on the Internet is not permitted to use.
    Similarly, any removable media, such as floppy disk and CD-ROM, should not be used. Use of desktop calculators and electronic dictionaries are also not permitted.

    But non-electronic materials can be used : e.g. text books, dictionaries, program hard copies, etc.

  • No contact with the outside
    Any contestants can talk with only other members of the same team, where the coach and reserves are NOT included.
    Any WWW access, e-mail reading/writing, chatting, and other network access are not permitted, excepting WWW access to the contest page, and e-mail contact with the judges.

  • Only one computer
    Although a team has three contestants, each team has to use only one computer throughout the contest. The computer can connect to only one pair of mouse and keyboard ; any other input devices are not permitted.

  • No automatic programming tool
    The contestants should not use any programming support tool which can generate programs automatically such as yacc and lex.

  • Certification
    Each team should be supervised by a teacher of the college throughout the contest, and has to be certified that the team was NOT dishonest. A teacher can be supervisor for two or more teams.

    After the contest, each supervisor should send the certification to the Ehime contest office via FAX, with the "check-sheet" (in Japanese) :
